Newly-married couple Bee (Rose Lesley) and Paul (Harry Treduey) comes for a honeymoon to backwoods – in the house in which Bee grew. They are sure that they are waited by the fine rest, which unable to sadden even the strange meeting with Bee’s child-hood friend, but the next night Paul finds Bee in the wood naked and in any similarity of a trance. The girl argues that with it everything is all right, but since then her behavior starts to change …
Probably, nobody needs to prove that «Game of thrones» – one of the most popular and important series of our time. The vast majority of the actors occupied in it prior to the beginning of series were anybody, but now they in a filmography have the most powerful trump which is necessary by the way when these actors will begin a new stage of the career. So, "Honeymoon" received good public relations at once on start when it was declared that the leading female role in a picture will be played by Rose Lesley which in «Game of thrones» represented the red-haired Igritt who for the first time has appeared in the second season. The fan base and at Harry Tredueya who this year mastered a role of the doctor of Frankenstein in series "Terrifying stories" turns up.
So, to draw attention to the project at early stages of work on it at founders it turned out, and now the main issue: what with the film? And here with the film everything is not so iridescent – he does not offer anything essentially new, without a spark fulfills habitual genre stamps and that is especially offensive, upsets with actor’s game. It would seem, in this plan at "Honeymoon" all should be normal, but also Lesley, and Treduey change, turning chamber history about two lovers, in the relations between which something gradually gets terrible, into competition on theatrical hand-wringing, pertinent unless only in any provincial Theatre for Young Audience.
Most of all in "Honeymoon", however, upsets secondariness and a zayezzhennost of its main part. What exactly occurs to Bee and who stands up for it transformation, we learn only in the last quarter of the film, but the picture is built in such a manner that the ending could be any – ghosts, aliens, demons could be "responsible", mermaids, wood goblins and in general everybody, the first hour action moves on universal, very much the general for such films to a track. Thus as a whole the film bears a strong resemblance to "Mollie’s Crumb» (2011) enough, which in itself was not an originality masterpiece.
If "Honeymoon" was fascinating and intense, a lot of things from listed it would be possible to forgive above, but Li Dzhenyak, apparently, does not suffice to a postanovshchitsa experience (it is her debut as the director and the screenwriter, before it worked as the assistant for several producers). A fascinating "genre" material in the scenario it is small, the most part of the film are easy strangenesses in Bee’s behavior and hints on the approaching tragedy. And so, in suspense forcing it it is certain not James Van so even the ending seems not held on and greased – though just the ending in which the plot taxis in area, a little unusual for horrors about a hut in the wood, should become rather shock.
