After mysterious disappearance of parents young aristocrat Meraya Mundi (Enayrin Barnard) learns that those worked for the confidential department created by the government for protection of historical values. Having gone on searches native, Meraya appears in resort hotel which Otto Lyuger (Sam Neil) – the greedy businessman applying for world supremacy manages. Lyuger hunts for Midas’s casket, able to turn subjects in gold, and the half of a magic medallion which secretly left to Mariah his mother is extremely necessary to it.
Appear the first part of future film series on light of years so thirty back, there are no guarantees that it would get to a wide release even then (it already the January release in the USA, apparently, was repeatedly postponed). Johnathan Newman’s picture is so artless, slow and in the worst sense is old-fashioned, what even during those nice times for it the viewer who has found such not shedevralny, but "quests" who has found cult popularity as «Save tsar Solomon» and "Gwendolyn" hardly would covet. Authors of "Casket", however, were obviously inspired not so much by them, how many «Chronicles young Indiana Jones», "Goofs" and at least first two "Mummies", not to mention Graham Taylor’s novel which laid down in a scenario basis.
Anyway, apparently, not set from the very beginning, but nevertheless the complete project which with optimism expects the continuation in 2015, is not necessary to the transferred classics even in free bonuses. And that it is more surprising that along with unexperienced meanwhile Enayrin Barnard, low level of which actor’s execution is comparable unless with unforgettable Deniyel Redklif’s even more modest professional data, on the screen there are such demanded British, as Michael Shin and Lena Hidi (considerably changing) under Sam Neil leadership. The last, despite diligent (as always) the contribution to common cause, at all does not hide that the destiny of his anti-hero and that more the statement excites him no more, than a name of the second assistant to the main costumier.
