Victor Sluzhkin’s life was not too set – the wife is dissatisfied with it, work is not present and the drinking habit gives only a headache instead of pleasure. From a lack of money and in hope to distract Victor is placed in school by the teacher of geography. In opposition to pupils and colleagues, in fight for an arrangement of the spouse, Victor lives the unusual year changing his views of the world in clarification of borders of friendship with the old friend.

Alexander Veledinskogo’s picture could become one of the main events of the Russian cinema of 2013 or maybe even several last years. And to that there are at once some preconditions – and the bright novel of the same name of Alexey Ivanov noted by much awards, and a summer victory on a film festival "Kinotavr" (that strange moment for Russia when the winner of one of the main festivals of the country discussed, praised and распиарили critics and future film distributors, and the viewer sees a tape in hire only half a year later), and participation in a tape of one of the main actors of the generation of Konstantin Khabensky. The total potential of a picture is very high, but whether it will turn out to become at "Geographer" the real phenomenon to what it is represented from far away?
The choice of the actor for a leading role was approved by the author of the novel Alexey Ivanov, having noted that Khabensky’s hero is similar to the image of the hero on a cover of the first edition of the novel in 2003
For a start, the picture cannot get off comparison with the book. Khabensky in it is faultless, to present someone other on literary Victor’s place already it is impossible.
Well matched to the protagonist and characters minor. From generation of the senior demand is insignificant are professionals who perform the work on firm "five", and here "school students" deserve separate "plus" to the five. Perm with its port, its gray boxes of high-rise buildings, with its faded streets and the lost inhabitants – is recognizable and oppressively opposite to the river, the Ural slopes, water thresholds of a final campaign.
